And the New Year is off! Hello everyone my name is Jenna Brace and I am one of your Wyoming County Alternate Dairy Princesses.

As we’ve all entered 2022 with some resolutions to try and keep up with, I figured I would share with you one of my favorite food recipes, mac and cheese!

Here is some health information, per serving: 858 calories, 37.7g protein, 66.7g carbohydrates, 48.7g fat, 141.6mg cholesterol, 879.3mg sodium.

2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cups of grated Parmesan cheese

2 1/2 cups of all purpose flower

1/2 cups of bread crumbs (optional)

Cook macaroni noodles then drain the water.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over top of a medium heat.

Slowly add in the flour; this will make a roux.

Slowly add in the milk, making sure to constantly stir.

Stir in the shredded and Parmesan cheeses and cook over low heat until the cheese is melted. The sauce should be a little thick.

Put the macaroni noodles in a large casserole dish and pour the cheese sauce over it, stirring well.

Melt some more butter in a skillet over medium heat.

Add breadcrumbs to brown.

Spread over macaroni and cheese.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Personally macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite foods. If I see it on a menu, chances are I’m ordering it. I hope you all try out and enjoy this recipe.

As we are all going through crazy times right now, one thing that always brings people together is food. So I’m going to share another recipe with you but this time it will be a dessert.

Let’s make our own ice cream.

2 Tablespoons of granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

A large sealable plastic bag

In the large sealable plastic bag, place the ice and salt.

Place the half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla in the small sandwich bag. Secure the bag closed.

Place your small sandwich bag inside of the large sealable plastic bag of ice and salt. Then seal the large plastic bag shut.

Shake, shake, shake until your mixture becomes solid.

Remove the sandwich bag from the ice and salt.

Top your ice cream however you’d like. Enjoy!

This is always a fun activity to do with your family and friends. Sometimes it is a fun birthday party activity to do as well. I know I never get tired of making ice cream with people at events. I encourage you to try it out.
